Mayweather’s ridiculous knockout of Ortiz

Posted: September 18, 2011 by Short Leg in Boxing

Flloyd Money Mayweather extended his unbeaten record to 42 in controversial circumstances against Victor Ortiz.

Ortiz went the dirty route, getting stuck in with his head. But then Mayweather knocked him out with a pathetically cheap shot before the ref had even called time back on after warning Ortiz.

This will be talked about for a long time.

Klitscho vs Haye

Posted: July 1, 2011 by Short Leg in Boxing

Tomorrow evening sees the most anticipated boxing match that I can remember, when Wladimir Klitschko takes on David Haye in Germany. Even though it may be argued that there are a number of lighter fighters who are ‘better’ boxers, there is something intriguing and gladiatorial about heavyweights pounding each other into submission.  (more…)

Sounds like a 60s cold war film… After a lot of posturing and with the expected boxing spout of bravado and promises, the David Haye versus Wladimir Klitschko fight that boxing fans have been anticipating has been announced. The fight will take place in Hamburg on the 2nd of July and will unify the major WBO and WBA titles.

30 year old Haye (25-1-23ko) is never short of a word and produced a couple of pearlers about 35 year old Klitschko (55-3-49ko) ahead of the fight. I find boxers hilarious.

“I’ve got no doubt Wladimir will freeze like an iceberg when I hit him on the chin in Hamburg.

“I’d fight Wladimir anywhere, so long as the location comes with a ring and a referee that can count to 10. By the time I’ve finished with Wladimir, he won’t know where he is anyway.

“Corrie Sanders’ mind was on the putting green, and he still managed to knock Wladimir out with a left hand.”

Check out the clip below, from the 2003 Sanders bout that Haye is talking about.

So the news that everyone’s new favourite superhero, Sonny Bill Williams, is going to be pulling on his boxing gloves again in June has been doing the rounds online.

He has a ‘charity’ bout scheduled for the 5th of June against a yet-to-be named opponent. With his sporting celebrity there is no doubt that he can pull in the paychecks on the under card of a fight night. He has pledged to donate $100 000 from his purse on the 5th to the Christchurch earthquake relief fund. (more…)

Bit Hits from SBW – Round 1

Doesn’t matter who or what you support you HAVE to appreciate this guy on some level!

To me – he is nothing short of a living legend! As far as athletes go can you imagine how fit this guy must be, I struggle to comprehend.

In case you hadn’t already heard he won this undercard fight against his Australian opponent Scott Lewis by unanimous decision, a shame it wasn’t by KO but we will give SBW a break this time…wasn’t he injured or something?!? We also all know that it doesn’t matter how you beat an Australian, it only matters that you did!

Highlight for me in this clip has got to be the shoulder charge…strange how it kind of looks like the beginning of a tackle! Love it!!!

“How dare I make the below comparison?!” you say…simple and for two reasons:

1. Because both could be regarded as athletic perfection

and…

2. Because I can

Possibly boxing’s BIGGEST tragedy!

Posted: February 17, 2011 by MackSkinDog in Boxing

This video really upset me in the beginning and not only because Usman ‘Uzzy’ Ahmed is a better dancer than me but also because nobody in his crew bothered to tell him that only once you win a fight are you allowed to put on a ridiculous ‘show’ and even then, it is surely reserved for those likely to make hall of fame status.

If this guy can fight for the English, British and Commonwealth super flyweight titles… then anyone could theoretically give it a go!

We can thank karma and Ashley Sexton for exacting revenge on our behalf and restoring balance to the Idiot-Normal Continuum!
